Spring wheat (Triticum aestivum and T. turgidum var. durum) is one of the most important crops in Canada, comprising over nine million hectares. Over 175 varieties, categorized into 12 spring wheat types are grown in Canada. Major areas of production include Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
Spring wheat is processed into flour, cereal food and feed, bread, pasta and bakery products. Durum wheat is processed into semolina flour that is used to make pasta and couscous.

Information is provided on abiotic factors affecting spring wheat growth.
