AgriStability: Industry Advisory
Farmers Reminded of 2009 AgriStability Enrolment Deadline
Farmers are encouraged to consider participating in AgriStability for 2009. The deadline to enrol is April 30. AgriStability helps farmers protect their farm income from deep declines. AgriStability is one of three key programs farmers can use to protect their income. Taken together, AgriStability, AgriInvest and AgriInsurance provide protection for different types of losses.
- AgriStability Enrolment Notices were sent early in 2009 to farmers who received a 2008 Enrolment Notice. Participants are required to pay their 2009 fee by April 30 (or 30 days from the date on their 2009 Enrolment Notice, whichever is later). Fees will be accepted until December 31, 2009 but will have a 20% penalty added. Farmers who submit their fee after December 31, 2009 will be ineligible to participate in AgriStability for the 2009 program year.
- Farmers who do not want to participate for the program year are required to inform the administration by responding to their Enrolment Notice by April 30 (or 30 days from the date on their 2009 Enrolment Notice, whichever is later).
- Farmers who have never participated in the Canadian Agricultural Income Stabilization (CAIS) program or AgriStability must request a New Participant Package for 2009 by April 30, 2009. They will then receive an Enrolment Notice and have 30 days from the date their notice is issued to respond.
- Farmers who participated in AgriStability in 2007 and 2008, but for whom we do not have enough information to generate a 2009 Enrolment Notice, will receive an invitation to participate. Farmers who want to participate in 2009 AgriStability will have to notify the administration of their intent to participate by the date indicated in the letter.
