National Order of Quebec - Angèle St-Yves (2010)
Ms. Angèle St-Yves, who served as AAFC's National Program Leader, Food Safety and Quality, and Director of two of its research centres, became Knight of the National Order of Quebec on June 3, 2010. Quebec's most prestigious distinction was bestowed to her by the Premier of Quebec, the Honourable Jean Charest. Angèle St-Yves, C.Q. is one of the first women to practice both the professions of engineer and agronomist in Quebec. She was the first female president of the Ordre des agronomes du Québec and the Association des ingénieurs en génie rural. Through the various professional positions she has held and the many roles she has filled, she has inspired countless young women from here and elsewhere aspiring to advance in the field of science, especially in engineering and agronomy. In her own field, she has mentored and tutored many women who made the leap into science, guiding them in various aspects of their future careers: training, work-family balance, equal opportunity, etc. Among her many accomplishments, this pioneer has significantly contributed to the advancement of sustainable agriculture in Quebec.
