Business Development
Business development programming will focus resources in four broad areas that will enhance the business management skills and capacity of individuals managing farm and agri-product processing businesses. Target clients include farm and post-farm business managers, ensuring the inclusion of Aboriginal people, young farmers, youth, new Canadians, and women.

Environmental Action
The purpose of this program component is to improve environmental performance and sustainability of agricultural operations. To do this, the program will provide funding for eligible BMP's that enhance agriculture's capacity to manage nutrients and water.

Manitoba Food Safety Risk Management Suite: Implementing Food Safety Systems
The Manitoba Food Safety Risk Management Suite provides resources towards establishing and implementing Food Safety (on-farm and post-farm), Biosecurity, and Traceability systems. The purpose of this program is to increase awareness and adoption of food safety practices, biosecurity practices, and traceability initiatives.

Promote Environmentally Responsible Agriculture
A Canada/New Brunswick Growing Forward initiative to assist producers in taking concrete steps to improve the environmental performance of their operations. This program is for implementation of Beneficial Management Practices (BMPs) for targeted on-farm actions including an increased focus on promoting public benefit practices. There is also a focus on energy conservation and energy audits. This initiative will also have a component for Environmental Management Planning aimed at supporting and promoting the development, adoption and implementation of environmental management practices through knowledge transfer activities.

Sector Development
Northern Agriculture Initiative: The Northern Agriculture Initiative will support the development of northern agricultural systems, with the objective of increasing the volume and value of agri-food produced in northern regions. Funds will be provided to support initiatives that contribute to the increased production of nutritional foods by northern producers. Potential activities under this initiative include: agriculture extension support to remote communities; the development, testing and implementation of new production and marketing systems that make northern food products more accessible to various markets.
