The Slaughter Improvement Program's (SIP) objectives are to strengthen the competitiveness of the red meat industry by providing interest-free, conditionally repayable contributions aimed at supporting investments to make operational improvements and modernize and will support investments to enhance slaughter capacity in regions that have a demonstrated regional gap that is constraining sector growth.
The SIP is delivered nationally by Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada. The Program can provide up to 50% of eligible costs. Projects must be completed by March 31, 2012.
To be reviewed in the first round of applications, an application must be submitted on or before August 21, 2009. If an application is not submitted by August 21, 2009, then it should be submitted on or before October 30, 2009 to be reviewed as part of the second round of applications. Further requests for applications will be subject to the availability of funds.
