Introduction
You know, it can really be confusing thinking about the future
I've always known I've needed to have good options, but now that I'm starting my career
There are so many possibilities
I've got some really big decisions to make
So when a friend suggested that I look into a career with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada
I thought, why not take a look?
And we all know that there only one good way to do that - Road trip

New speaker - Indian Head
The hearty tree seedlings I supply to the prairie farmers help protect your soil and water resources.

New speaker
I work with farmers and ranchers to help save species at risk and their habitat - right Scamper? - kiss you on the head.

New speaker (Vancouver)
I work in human resources reviewing resumes for potentials jobs
Does a career in the Canadian government interest you?

New speaker
I help Canadian companies export to international markets
Increasing Canadian exports not only benefits our economy but our farmers as well

New speaker (PEI)
These little guys may look harmless
But these beetles can easily destroy a potato field
As an entomologist, it is my job to find ways to stop them
Potato farmers depend on this work and so do French fry lovers
Mmm… that's good!

New speaker (Regina)
Ethiopia, one of the poorest countries in the world needs to better manage its water resources to produce more food.
Our role is to build technical and professional capacity in developing nations
And it works!

New speaker
For the growing number of prairie lands come down to First Nations Management
Aboriginal partnerships are going to be important. We work closely with these clients to ensure better management of soil and water resources.

New speaker
This is what a bilingual call centre looks like. We work one-on one with producers over the internet and phone to help them access federal programs.
It's a really busy place

New speaker (Summerland)
I enjoy mentoring youth. That's why I like giving them opportunities to explore various career paths.

New speaker
My research helps farmers and even grocers to save money from spoiled produce
This is beautiful!

New speaker
I help identify tree and fruit diseases. By understanding how bacteria and fungus work, we can help prevent this from happening in your fruit bowl.

New speaker
Scientists sometimes come up with inventions that improve how we process food. They tell me their secrets - I help them protect their inventions and hopefully we get to share it with the world.

New speaker (Montreal)
(I prepare bids to make sure Canadians get the best value for their money.)

New speaker
(I am a scientific communicator. And I explain in French what researchers do in Latin. This is filtration!)

New speaker
(I'm a researcher in food science and I create nutraceuticals and food for the future.)
There are 2 billions friendly cells in this capsule ready to die for you so that you can feel better

New speaker (Kentville)
I use GPS technology to collect information about the landscape around me - from satellites 20 000 km away and this information is used to help farmers develop environmental farm plans
Hmmm….I wonder if this thing can find me a good place for lunch

New speaker (Outlook)
I study how irrigation affects crops in the environment. This thing actually works a lot better in the summer time.

New speaker
Tansi! I help First Nation Communities assess and take inventory of their natural resources

New speaker
(Canada has invested a lot of resources for the development of irrigation in the Prairies. I like to share my engineering expertise to manage international water projects everywhere in the world.)

New speaker (Ottawa)
I help scientists with their research projects. I make sure the plants get fed and stay healthy - if I feed them, they will come.

New speaker

New speaker
We nurture inclusiveness by encouraging departmental staff to self-identify and promote their cultural heritage.
This looks good.

New speaker
(I evaluate funding projects to ensure tax-paying Canadians get their money's worth.)

New speaker
I am an intern getting valuable work experience. Right now I am helping coordinate meetings between the Federal Minister and Provincial Ministers all across Canada.

New speaker
I keep bureaucracy rolling.

New speaker (North BattleFord)
We are called pasture riders and riding is a big part of our job. Every summer across western Canada we care for thousands of privately owned livestock on millions of acres of environmentally sensitive federal land. While we ensure the land and cattle stay healthy we also provide environmental conservation.

Conclusion
That was amazing
I mean, I always thought Agriculture just meant farming
You know tractors, animals, manure
I never know that there were so many people doing such different and interesting jobs.

It just goes to show you the value of a good road trip
