Advance notification - anabolic steroids

The Canadian Pari-Mutuel Agency (CPMA) will implement testing for the following veterinary approved anabolic steroids: boldenone, nandrolone, stanozolol and testosterone, as of June 1st, 2009. Any graded stakes races occurring before that date will be tested for anabolic steroids.

Thresholds and withdrawal guidance for anabolic steroids are consistent with standards established by International and American regulatory bodies:

• Water-based products, single dose - 30 days
• Oil-based products, single dose - 45 days
• All products, multiple doses - minimum of 60 days after the last dose

Please note that testing for non-veterinary-approved anabolic steroids is currently in place, and that positives for those drugs might occur at any time.
