Watershed Evaluation of Beneficial Management Practices (WEBs)

The Watershed Evaluation of Beneficial Management Practices (WEBs) project is measuring the economic and water quality impacts of selected agricultural beneficial management practices (BMPs) at seven watershed sites across Canada.

WEBs was launched in 2004 with Ducks Unlimited Canada as a major funding partner. WEBs continues as a federally funded initiative designed to enhance land-use decision making at the farm and landscape levels and is part of the environment theme in the Growing Forward Agriculture Policy Framework.

WEBs project sites are managed by regionally-located AAFC staff and are supported by local steering committees comprised of technical experts from various partner groups.

WEBs Watershed Locations across Canada

The seven regional WEBs watershed sites are located in areas of historical benchmarking, where long-term background conditions and trends at the watershed level are well understood. The watersheds in this study include:

Salmon River, near Kamloops, BC
Lower Little Bow River, near Lethbridge, AB
South Tobacco Creek/Steppler, near Miami, MB
South Nation, near Ottawa, ON
Bras d'Henri and Fourchette, near Quebec City, QC
Black Brook, near Grand Falls, NB
