Areas of Expertise:

  • soybeans
  • soybean stress-drought
  • soybean protein
  • soybean carbohydrate

Current Projects:

  • Bean breeding, quality and molecular genetics.
  • Determination of environmental effects on food grade soybean quality and development of large-seeded food-type soybean for niche markets
  • Develop and release improved (yield, quality, adaptability, and/or disease resistance) cultivars and breeding lines of soybeans
  • Develop technologies and enhanced ability to quantify quality attributes of soybeans and soy products and determine how various soybean traits affect the yield and quality of soy products
  • Developing new pulse crop cultivars with improved quality and processing opportunities while reducing production risks
  • Development, evaluation, and implementation of impoved testing procedures to evaluate food grade soybeans, to enhance exports and strengthen the Canadian Food Grade Soybean Industry
