Current Projects:

  • Use of cover crop on the disease incidence and severity of cucurbits and investigation of the factors contributing to disease control
  • Microbial ecology of plant pathogenic bacteria and saprohytic microflora of phyllosphere associated to cropping systems, environmental conditions and interactions with the host plant
  • Impact of climate changes on the development of bacterial diseases of horticultural crops
  • Study of factors that influence plant resistance or tolerance to plant pathogenic bacteria
  • Development and validation of modern techniques for detecting Erwinia amylovora to facilitate technology transfer
  • Study of alternative control methods to reduce the incidence and severity of bacterial diseases in lettuce
