Areas of Expertise:

  • Focus on food quality and safety of horticultural produce; Conducted extensively research on biochemistry, physiology and physiological regulations of food quality during postharvest. Progresses include preventing postharvest decay and enhancing flavor by using nature volatiles; developing rapid, qualitative and quantitative aroma volatile measuring techniques (SPME/GC/TOFMS); analysis of plants secondary metabolites in food products; developing non-destructive fruit quality measurements by using chlorophyll fluorescence; molecular biology of fruit ripening (proteomic and genomic) related to fruit quality.

Current Projects:

  • Biochemistry and characterization of flavor volatile biosynthesis in fruits and vegetables
  • Using biotechnology tools to study and improve quality
  • Using Chlorophyll Fluorescence for the Rapid, Non-Destructive Assessment of Apple Fruit Quality
  • Development of new technologies to enhance quality and prevent postharvest deteriorations.
