  • Développer et déployer des cultivars de blé roux de printemps de l'Ouest canadien à rendement élevé et des cultivars de blé dur résistants au cèphe du blé, au moyen de stratégies appropriées de lutte intégrée pour augmenter la rentabilité de la production du blé dans les zones de sol brun et de sol brun foncé sujettes à la sécheresse
  • Mise au point de techniques génétiques et de cultivars améliorés pour atténuer la perte de valeur marchande du blé et de qualité des aliments induites par les conditions météorologiques et les maladies
  • Marqueurs d'ADN pour la résistance à la carie du blé
  • Cartographie génomique pour les traits de qualité des grains de blé dur
  • Amélioration de la couleur, de la qualité des protéines et des propriétés meunières du blé dur afin de maintenir la part canadienne qui atteint 60 p. 100 sur le marché mondial du blé dur et de permettre au Canada de s'accaparer une part croissante du créneau du « blé dur du désert » de qualité et très riche en gluten, combiné à une réduction génétique
